ICC from RYA and IYT
Did you know?
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) can only issue the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) to UK citizens or residents who meet the eligibility requirements.
However, the International Yacht Training (IYT) system can issue the ICC to individuals from countries that have not signed UNECE Resolution 40, or to those who have legal residency in Portugal.
This means that many international sailors who cannot obtain an ICC through their national authority may still qualify through an IYT school, provided they meet the required training and assessment standards.
The ICC is widely recognised in many European countries and is often required when chartering a yacht or operating a recreational vessel in European waters.
If you have any questions about ICC eligibility or about which courses qualify for obtaining the ICC, please feel free to get in touch with us — we will be happy to help guide you through the process.
