IYT Certification Equivalence in Portugal

In Portugal, it is possible to apply for an equivalence to Patrão Local or Patrão de Costa using an International Yacht Training (IYT) certification.

For example, if you hold the Small Powerboat & RIB Master certification, the process is simple and fully online.

Requirements:

To apply for the equivalence, you must:

• Submit your Small Powerboat & Rib Master certification
• Issue your ICC (International Certificate of Competence)
• Obtain a medical fitness certificate (issued within the last 6 months)

Submit all required documentation through the BMAR online platform

Application & Fees

After submission, the application will be reviewed by the Direção-Geral de Recursos Naturais, Segurança e Serviços Marítimos (DGRM).

Equivalence fee: 99€, to be paid directly to DGRM
