Course Description

Embark on an unforgettable 5-day sailing expedition from Faro, navigating along the southern Iberian coast to Mazagón. This adventure combines hands-on sailing training with the thrill of exploration, with possible stops at the Guadiana River, Isla Canela, El Rompido, or Punta Umbría.

During the expedition, you’ll work with charts, plan your pilotage, and practice essential sailing drills, gaining the skills and confidence to become a competent and independent sailor. Between exercises, enjoy discovering hidden bays, charming coastal towns, and serene rivers along the way.

Possible Expedition Itinerary

While each sailing expedition is unique, here’s an example of how a 5-day journey could be organised:

  • Day 1: Departure from Olhão or Faro Marina, setting sail along the Algarve coast. Introduction to the yacht, safety briefing, and basic sailing drills.
  • Day 2: Arrival in Mazagón. Focus on navigation, pilotage, and advanced sailing drills while exploring the port and nearby areas.
  • Day 3: Visit charming coastal towns such as El Rompido or Punta Umbría, continuing training in navigation, watch-keeping, and sail handling.
  • Day 4: Possible stops at the Guadiana River or Isla Canela, exploring hidden channels, practising chart work, and honing sailing skills.
  • Day 5: Sail back from Isla Canela to Olhão, applying the skills learned during the expedition and concluding with a debrief.
