Course Description

This certificate is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) – UK.

Our hands-on Tender Driver Course & Qualification is designed for professional yacht crew seeking practical skills and official recognition. There are two MCA-recognized courses for this level: this one and the Recreational Powerboat Level 2 course offered by the RYA. The IYT Powerboat Course covers vessels up to 15 m (45′) with no accommodation, powered by outboard or inboard motors, in fair weather, up to 20 miles from a safe haven. There are no horsepower restrictions, and the IYT Small Powerboat & RIB Master (Powerboat 2 equivalent) certificate is a commercial certificate that does not require a separate commercial endorsement.

Assessment: Assessment is continuous throughout the programme. The course is competency-based, meaning candidates are evaluated on demonstrating correct skills and knowledge in real-world scenarios. A short written exam will be held on the final day to confirm understanding.
