At sea, space is limited, and simplicity is key. Bring only what you truly need, choose versatile layers, and think waterproof and windproof. Pack light, pack smart, and you’ll be ready to focus on the adventure ahead.

Here is a clean, ready-to-copy packing list for a sailing course:

  • Lightweight, comfortable sailing clothes
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers (essential)
  • Warm layer (fleece or jumper)
  • Light long-sleeve shirts (sun protection)
  • T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Comfortable trousers - without metal bits
  • Non-marking deck shoes (light-coloured sole)
  • Trainers (backup pair)
  • Flip-flops or sandals (for marina use only)
  • Sleepwear
  • Underwear and socks
  • Swimwear (summertime)
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses with a retention strap
  • Light gloves (sailing gloves recommended)

Personal Items

  • Toiletries (biodegradable products preferred)
  • Towel (quick-dry recommended)
  • Personal medication
  • Seasickness tablets (if needed)
  • Sunscreen (high SPF)
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Reusable water bottle (avoid metal bottles without rubber protection)
  • Small backpack/day bag
  • Headlamp or small torch
  • Earplugs (marinas can be noisy)

  • Passport or ID card
  • Sailing certificates (if applicable)
  • VHF certificate (if you have one)
  • Travel insurance details
  • Course confirmation details

  • Power bank
  • Notebook and pen
  • Snacks you enjoy
  • A small item or treat to share with the crew
  • Favourite recipe if you would like to cook onboard
     

Important Notes

  • Bring soft bags only (no hard suitcases).
  • Pack light — storage space onboard is limited. Bag max 60L
  • Laundry facilities are limited, so plan accordingly.
  • Less is more when sailing. Pack smart, stay practical, and you’ll be perfectly prepared for life at sea.
